Punjab IG calls on army officers

Punjab’s inspector general of police (IG) and a provincial secretary met senior army officers in Rawalpindi on Friday, Dawn has learnt.

According to a source, IG Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera and the provincial secretary arrived at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport on a special plane at around 1pm. From there they made their way to Rawalpindi to meet the army officers. The meeting discussed issues related to security, the source added.

The two officials of the Punjab government stayed in the city for two hours. The visit comes at a time when the government is considering launching an operation against banned outfits. They also briefed the army officers on measures taken by the Punjab police for implementation of the National Action Plan.

Both officials flew back to Lahore later in the evening by special plane.
