According to the US organization, Pakistan is on the top of the list of those countries where terrorist attacks on educational institutions take place. A total of 850 attacks have taken place on Pakistan’s educational institutes due to which 461 people were killed. According to ‘Global Terrorism Database’ of University of Maryland, which has been keeping a record of terrorist incidents from all over the world since 40 years, a total of 850 attacks have taken place on educational institutions of Pakistan which killed 461 people. The most lethal of these attacks was the attack on APS Peshawar that took place on 16th December 2014. Russia comes second in the list, after Pakistan, where 360 people were killed in such attacks.
According to these figures, most of the terrorist attacks on educational institutes took place in South Asia from 1970 to 2014 and a total of 951 people were killed in these attacks. The whole world faced 1436 terrorist attacks on educational institutions, during the same period, 60% of which took place on Pakistan’s educational institutes.
According to analysts, these figures show a dangerous situation regarding the security of educational institutions in Pakistan and the country faces serious threat from the Wahhabi ideology. Wahhabis were earlier against the creation of Pakistan and now they have become a threat to Pakistan’s security.
