Pakistan refused to provide military to Saudi Arabia but assured cooperation in other areas

Shiite News: Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz while briefing the National Assembly’s foreign committee on Saudi-Iran conflict, about the government’s policy told “Pakistan is a part of 34 countries’ alliance against terrorism but is not sending force to Saudi Arabia because it is against our policy to send our military to any country. Pakistan will only send its military for the UN’s peace missions”. Sartaj Aziz also told that Saudi Arabia did not request Pakistan to send its military either. Foreign Affairs committee supported the government’s policy in Saudi-Iran conflict. Committee’s Chairman Owais Laghari said that Pakistan should play a major role in ending the conflict.

It should be remembered that Saudi Princes have recently visited Pakistan in order to influence Pakistan for joining the 34 countries’ alliance and to practically include Pakistan’s military in the war however, Pakistan has clearly refused to provide its military to Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif’s government have not yet taken other political parties of the country into confidence. All parties present in the parliament, including opposition parties, had opposed joining the alliance and advised to solve the issue in the parliament.
