Navy Shia officer succumbs to injuries 5 days after targeted attack

navy logo An official navy spokesperson confirmed the death of senior navy officer Lieutenant Commander Azeem Haider who succumbed to his injuries on Monday. Lt Haider was critically injured after armed militants of Taliban and Sipah-e-Sahaba (Yazeed) in Pakistan Navy opened fire at his car near gate 15 of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on February 27. According to the police, Lt Haider was shot five times and was admitted to PNS Shifa for treatment and care. He passed away while under treatment at the hospital. Security sources said it was a targeted attack on Azeen Haider and all navy officers had been informed of a possible attack earlier. Jackson police has lodged a complaint of the incident; however no suspects have been arrested yet because of the state organs patronage to the armed militants.
