Saudi Foreign Minister shortened his visit to Pakistan

Shiite News: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adil al Jubeir shortened his visit to Pakistan and has returned to his country whereas sources told that he was to stay in Pakistan for few days.

Saud Foreign Minister was to visit Pakistan on 3rd January but he cancelled it at the eleventh hour due to ongoing protests against Sheikh Nimr’s execution.

Sources told that a two to three days’ visit of Saudi Foreign Minister was planned but Saudi embassy in Pakistan had informed him about public reaction in Pakistan against Sheikh Nimr’s execution and the on-going protests therefore, he should shorten his visit.

During the visit, Saudi Foreign Minister Adil al-Jubeir met Pakistan’s PM Nawaz Sharif, foreign secretary Sartaj Aziz, national security advisor Nasir Janjua and the army chief General Raheel Sharif. According to reports, Mr. Jubeir tried to convince Pakistan’s leadership for joining the 34 countries’ alliance against Daesh however, Pakistani leadership did not give any satisfactory reply.

On the other hand, people all over the country came out on roads on Saudi Foreign Minister’s arrival in Pakistan and protested against Sheikh Nimr’s execution in Saudi Arabia. Protestors claimed that Saudi Foreign Minister was also involved in the execution of an innocent religious scholar and therefore, they were protesting.
