Shia Ulema Council withdraws protest call against Sheikh Nimr’s execution
Shiite News: Shia Ulema Council took back the call for protest against Sheikh Nimr’s martyrdom scheduled for 8th January upon orders of Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi.
According to information, it has been said in the statement issued by SUC that the call for protest has been taken back to foil conspiracies for spreading sectarian differences so that unity among Muslims could be fostered.
After the martyrdom of Sheikh Nimr, pro-Saudi elements had tried to give a sectarian color to the whole situation but they did not succeed in their efforts. Although the Sunni people of Pakistan have been also been protesting against Sheikh Nimr’s execution but a specific pro-Saudi Arabia group has been trying to serve House of Saud by giving a sectarian color to Sheikh Nimr’s martyrdom. On the other hand, the protests conducted all over the country against Sheikh Nimr’s execution actually made people aware that he was being oppressed otherwise the Saudi propaganda machinery had declared him a terrorist.
Pro-Saudi elements present in the society have always supported Yazeed and the Yazeed of the day and declared the voice raised against them as sectarianism. They even relate Muharram’s procession and protests to sectarianism but that does not mean that people should stop azadari due to their fear in fact, we should foil the conspiracies of those spreading sectarianism by doing azadari.
