Mardan: Suicide attack near NADRA office, 22 dead, more than 42 injured, Taliban claimed responsibility

A suicide attack in a populated area of Mardan near NADRA office killed 22 people, including one child, whereas more than 42 were injured. DPO Mardan Faisal Shahzad declared the attack as suicide and told that the bomber was riding a motorcycle and hit the gate with his motorcycle. NADRA office of Mardan is located in a highly populated area and a large number of people were present there at the time of blast. Because of this, there is a chance that number of deaths could increase. Dead bodies and injured have been shifted to different hospitals where emergency has been declared. Those who were seriously injured have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital of Peshawar. According to District Emergency Officer Dr. Haris, 10 of the injured people are in critical condition. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the Mardan attack whereas Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has asked for the incident’s report. Police and security forces cordon off the area soon after the blast and started searching suspicious people and vehicles.

Other sources reported that 77 people were injured in the attack that took place near NADRA office in Mardan. According to DIG Mardan Saeed Wazir, initial investigations prove that the attack was suicide and the attacker, riding a motorcycle, blew himself near the gate of NADRA. Emergency has been declared in all hospitals of Mardan.

Blast was so powerful that it not only damaged the NADRA building but glasses of nearby buildings were also broken. Bomb Disposal Squad told that around 8 to 10 kg of explosive was used in the blasr. TTP’s group Jamat al Harar claimed the responsibility of the attack. PM and President condemned the attack and expressed sympathy with the families of deceased. On the other hand, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also condemned the suicide attack and asked the officials for the incident’s report.
