Karachi Mayor’s authorities: Shia Ulema Council will protest with MQM

According to Shiite news’ monitoring desk, a press release issued by Shia Ulema Council stated that election of a mayor without authorities is a conspiracy for increasing citizens’ issues. It also demanded the government to cancel the resolution passed in the assembly for making mayor powerful and to restore the authorities present in the constitution in order to resolve peoples’ problems and to carry out developmental work in the city. Shia Ulema Council declared it as provincial government’s dishonesty not to provide powers to the mayor that are present in the constitution.

The statement further stated “Shia Ulema Council completely supports MQM’s stance over mayor’s powers. A powerful mayor is the need of the city and if the government would not provide constitutional powers to the mayor then Shia Ulema Council have the right to protest”.

It also demanded Supreme Court to take ‘sou-moto’ action to resolve peoples’ issues.
