A Powerful Display of Muslim Unity at Ishq-e-Payambar-e-Azam Conference as Shia and Sunni Scholars Offer Prayers Together

Shiite News: Before the start of the “Ishq-e-Payambar-e-Azam Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH) Markaz-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen Conference” in Islamabad, a beautiful and exemplary display of Muslim unity and inter-sectarian harmony was witnessed. On the occasion, scholars and participants from different schools of thought offered the Maghrib prayer in congregation led by a Sunni religious scholar, while the Isha prayer was led by a Shia religious scholar.

During the prayers, people belonging to different schools of thought stood shoulder to shoulder in the same rows. Some worshippers prayed with their hands folded, while others prayed with their hands at their sides. However, everyone faced the same Qibla, with their hearts filled with love and devotion for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The spiritually uplifting scene demonstrated that despite differences in secondary and jurisprudential matters, the Muslim Ummah shares far more common ground.

Scholars from different schools of thought offering prayers behind one another conveyed a powerful message of unity, tolerance and mutual respect. The scholars’ practical initiative can be regarded as an excellent example for promoting Muslim unity in Pakistan. Such efforts can help reduce divisions, eliminate misunderstandings, and promote love, brotherhood and harmony in society.

On the occasion, speakers emphasized that participation in each other’s religious gatherings and the organization of joint programs are essential for eliminating sectarianism and hatred from the country. They stressed that the prevailing circumstances require all schools of thought to move forward together, as unity is a source of strength for the Muslim Ummah, stability for the country, and a means of seeking the pleasure of Allah, the approval of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the satisfaction of Amir al-Mu’minin Hazrat Ali (AS).
