Shameful Takfiri Fatwa: Providing Sabeel of Imam Hussain During Muharram Declared an Innovation

Shiite News: Takfiri and Nasibi elements have once again targeted Muharram and the commemoration of Imam Hussain (AS). According to an alleged fatwa issued by Darul Ifta Jamia Ashrafia Lahore, setting up Sabeel-e-Imam Hussain (water, milk, and beverage distribution stalls) has been declared a “bid’ah” (innovation), “resemblance to Rafidah,” and based on “incorrect beliefs,” rendering it impermissible.

The fatwa reportedly states that establishing sabeels during the month of Muharram is a distinctive practice of Rafidis and that Muslims should refrain from it.

Mourners and Shia scholars have strongly condemned the fatwa, describing it as a direct attack on the message of Karbala, love for Imam Hussain (AS), and the sacred tradition of Azadari. They argue that providing sabeel symbolizes service, brotherhood, and the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS), values that have historically been targeted by Nasibi groups.
