Budget Should Address Common People’s Problems; Child Labour Must Be Eliminated, Says Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi

Shiite News: Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, in his message issued on June 12 on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour and the 2026–27 Budget, stated that ordinary citizens are facing severe hardships. He emphasized that the national budget should be formulated with the challenges of the common people in mind.

He said that the continuous rise in child labour is primarily the result of an exploitative and unjust economic system. According to him, child labour is one of the worst social evils affecting society.

Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi further stated that persistent inflation has pushed ordinary people into extreme difficulties. The mini-budgets introduced throughout the year have caused irreparable damage to the public’s economic condition. Petroleum products, electricity and gas bills, medicines, and essential food items have become increasingly unaffordable for the average citizen.

He expressed regret that most budgets presented so far have been little more than exercises in rhetoric. He remarked that merely hearing the word “budget” now creates anxiety among the public due to fears of further inflation.

The religious leader also stressed that Islam places great importance on the rights of children, alongside those of men, women, and the elderly. He called for legislation, quality education, training, and practical measures to secure a brighter future for children, who are the builders of tomorrow. Referring to United Nations statistics, he noted that more than 200 million children worldwide are forced into labour.
