Power Load Shedding During Muharram is Unbearable, Relief Must Be Provided to Mourners: Allama Maqsood Ali Domki

Jacobabad: An important meeting regarding arrangements for the month of Muharram-ul-Haram, the law and order situation, and unannounced electricity load shedding was held at Jamia Al-Mustafa Khatam-un-Nabiyyin in Jacobabad under the chairmanship of Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, Provincial President of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Sindh.

A large number of religious scholars, organizers of religious gatherings, caretakers of Imambargahs, organizational officials, and respected members of the community attended the meeting.

Participants expressed serious concern and anger over prolonged power outages, repeated tripping, and dangerous hanging electricity wires in Jacobabad and surrounding areas. Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, along with religious scholars, also issued a special video message on the matter.

Addressing the gathering, Allama Domki stated that Jacobabad is among the hottest cities in Asia, and electricity outages lasting 18 to 20 hours in extreme heat amount to injustice against citizens, traders, students, patients, and mourners.

He said that Majalis, processions, and mourning gatherings are taking place during Muharram, yet adequate safety measures are not being implemented by the electricity authorities. In the past, several mourners lost their lives due to hanging wires and official negligence.

Allama Domki demanded that the Sindh government, district administration, SEPCO, and relevant authorities ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during Muharram, end unannounced load shedding, and immediately repair hazardous wires along procession routes.

He warned that if the concerned institutions fail to fulfill their responsibilities, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen reserves the right to launch a strong protest movement in coordination with the public and mourners.
