Maulana Najafi’s Speech on the Scholarly and Moral Services of Imam Baqir (AS)
According to Shia News, speaking at Jamia Ali Mosque, Hawza Ilmiyya Jamia tul Muntazar in Model Town, Maulana Dr. Syed Muhammad Najafi said that the fifth Imam Baqir (AS), rendered invaluable services for the promotion of divine knowledge and Islamic sciences.
He stated that Imam Baqir (AS) was martyred on the 7th of Dhul-Hijjah at the age of 57. The Imam was famously known by the title “Baqir al-Uloom” and had many distinguished students. His appearance and character closely resembled the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Maulana Najafi said that during the early years of Imam Baqir’s Imamate, the government of Umar bin Abdul Aziz returned the land of Fadak to the Ahlul Bayt (AS) and also stopped the practice of cursing Amir al-Momineen Imam Ali (AS).

He also mentioned Imam Baqir’s father, Imam Zain Ul Abideen (AS) , and his mother Fatima bint Imam Hasan (AS), who held the title of Siddiqa. Referring to a saying of Imam Jafir Sadiq (AS), he said that Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) remained engaged in the remembrance of Allah at all times.
He also quoted the Holy Prophet ﷺ as saying that wearing good and beautiful clothes increases a man’s honor and dignity among women by the will of Allah Almighty. Referring to Shaheed Murtaza Motahhari, he added that in religious matters, one should not worry about people’s opinions, but should work sincerely for the sake of Allah alone.
