Allama Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi Elected Unopposed President of Wafaq ul Madaris Shia Pakistan
Shiite News: A meeting of the executive council of Wafaq ul Madaris Shia Pakistan was held at Jamia tul Muntazir (Lahore). Heads of affiliated Islamic educational institutions from across the country participated.
In the meeting, Allama Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi was unanimously elected unopposed as President of Wafaq ul Madaris Shia for the next five years.
The responsibilities of Chairman Election Commission were carried out by Allama Shabbir Hassan Mithami on behalf of Allama Syed Muhammad Taqi Naqvi. No candidate submitted nomination papers against Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi. Members of the executive council formally approved the election by standing up and raising their hands.

During the session, the five-year performance report was presented by Secretary General Allama Muhammad Afzal Haidari. Reports on examinations were presented by Maulana Muhammad Tahseen, on visits to seminaries by Dr. Syed Muhammad Najafi, and on degree equivalence by Maulana Lal Hussain Khan Tohidi.
In his address, the newly elected President Allama Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi emphasized promoting Quranic teachings and congregational prayers. He stated that compared to the population, the number of Shia seminaries and students in Pakistan is very low, and scholars must work to increase it.
He stressed appointing teachers who can fully focus on teaching responsibilities. Highlighting the history of Shia seminaries in the subcontinent, he said the first seminary in present-day Pakistan, Bab-ul-Uloom Multan, was established in 1932. After independence, several seminaries were formed in 1949, while Jamia tul Muntazir was established in 1954.
Member of the Supreme Council of Wafaq ul Madaris Shia Pakistan and Qaed-e-Millat-e-Jafaria, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, welcomed the election and said it was fortunate that he was unanimously chosen.
Scholars and seminary administrators from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir attended the meeting, including Allama Malik Ijaz Hussain Najafi, Allama Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, Allama Shabbir Hassan Mithami, Allama Syed Mureed Hussain Naqvi, Allama Abdul Majeed Beheshti, Allama Sheikh Muhammad Shafa Najafi, Allama Muhammad Ishaq Najafi, Allama Mohsin Mehdavi, and Allama Akbar Zahedi.
