Iran–U.S. ceasefire proposal being referred to as the “Islamabad Accord”: Reuters

Pakistan has shared a comprehensive ceasefire framework with the United States and Iran, and the agreement is being referred to as the “Islamabad Accord.”

According to the British news agency Reuters, citing sources familiar with the proposal, the ceasefire framework shared by Pakistan consists of two phases.

The report states that the first phase includes an immediate ceasefire, followed by a broader, comprehensive ceasefire agreement.

Reuters further reported that Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, remained in continuous contact last night with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, President Trump’s adviser Steve Witkoff, and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi regarding the ceasefire proposal.

According to the report, the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States is being called the “Islamabad Accord,” under which the Strait of Hormuz would initially be reopened immediately. A comprehensive ceasefire framework would then be developed within 15 to 20 days. Consensus on the Islamabad Accord is expected today.

Meanwhile, senior Iranian officials have also confirmed receiving Pakistan’s proposal for an immediate ceasefire. Iran is reviewing the proposal and has stated that it will not accept any deadlines or pressure in making its decision.
