Imamia Council Gilgit’s meeting, FIR registered against the students of Karakoram University was condemned
An important meeting of Imamia Council Gilgit was held in Gilgit in which MWM, Shia Ulema Council and other religious parties participated. The meeting was chaired by the president of Central Imamia Council Gilgit Ali Sher. The situation that took place during Youm e Hussain (as) in Karakoram University and other important issues of Gilgit Baltistan were discussed in detail. It was stated in the joint statement issued after the meeting that the peaceful situation of Gilgit Baltistan was being destroyed according to a planned scheme. Some extremist elements in Karakoram University, under the leadership of Dr. Shahnawaz, wanted to bann Youm e Hussain (as) and spread chaos which was identified by the Imamia Council in the FIR. The participants of the meeting demanded the government and administration to take legal action against the identified extremist group according to NAP.
The FIR registered against innocent students of Karakoram University under ATA was also condemned during the meeting and it was demanded that FIR should be immediately annulled. The statement further said “Administration should change its behavior otherwise it will be responsible for the consequences. It is distressing that the kidnapped engineer could not be recovered even after spending two weeks in Dareil. Incompetency of provincial government is equivalent to supporting terrorists therefore, army chief should initiate operation Zarb e Azb in Dareil”. Provincial government’s policy was strongly condemned in the meeting and it was said that the government was adopting the policy of divide and rule in Gilgit Baltistan in order to deviate the attention from national issues but it would not be tolerated. Action against terrorists involved in firing at Soni Kot on Ashura was also demanded and it was declared that Millat e Jafaria would declare its future policy if government would not give attention to all demands.
