US Consulate Services Suspended in Lahore and Karachi

Shiite News: The United States Embassy in Islamabad has announced that visa services at US consulates in Lahore and Karachi have been suspended from today until March 13.
According to the announcement, all immigrant and non-immigrant visa appointments scheduled during this period have been cancelled. Applicants will receive further instructions regarding rescheduling their appointments via email.
However, routine and emergency consular services for US citizens will continue during this period.
The decision comes in the aftermath of widespread protests across Pakistan following the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
During protests held on March 1, several people were reportedly martyred after US Marines opened fire, which intensified public demands for the complete closure of US embassy and consulate offices in Pakistan.
