20 SHIA MOURNERS SENT TO JAIL FOR TAKING OUT ILLEGAL MUHARRAM PROCESSION
AT LEAST 20 SHIA MOURNERS (AZADAR’S) WERE SENT TO ADIALA JAIL ON A JUDICIAL REMAND AS RAMNA POLICE ARRESTED AROUND 50 MOURNERS FOR TAKING OUT AN ILLEGAL PROCESSION ON TUESDAY, POLICE SAID.
A case was registered with Ramna police against the 20 individuals in response to a complaint lodged by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Fayaz Ranjah.
Approximately 50 people were arrested on Tuesday for taking out a Muharram procession despite permission from the district magistrate, in G-10. After four organisers of the procession were arrested, police were deployed outside the house from which the procession was to be taken out.
However, mourners attempted to take a procession out from an imambargah in the area, and clashed with the police. Of the 200 or so participants, 50 were arrested. A similar incident also took place last year.
