Shiite News: Iran has formally lodged a strong protest with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs over controversial remarks made by Judge Afzal Majoka, terming them unacceptable and against diplomatic norms.
According to sources, Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam sent an official letter to the Foreign Office stating that the remarks included in the judgment, including abusive language and labeling Iran a “terrorist state” are highly inappropriate and unacceptable. Iran questioned the basis on which such remarks were included in a judicial verdict.
During an informal interaction with journalists, the Iranian ambassador stated that the matter is deeply distressing for Iran.
Sources further said that Pakistani authorities have assured the Iranian side that the controversial sentences will be removed, though the method and procedure for their removal remain unclear.
