Central Anjuman-e-Imamia Gilgit-Baltistan Condemns Desecration of Hijab in India
Shiite News: Central Anjuman-e-Imamia Gilgit-Baltistan has strongly condemned the disgraceful and inhumane incident of desecration of a Muslim woman’s hijab in India. In its statement, the organization noted that the act was allegedly committed by an individual holding a high government position.
The statement emphasized that hijab is not only a symbol of a Muslim woman’s religious identity and freedom but also an essential component of her fundamental human rights.
Any violation of this right is unacceptable and contradicts Islamic teachings as well as international human rights conventions.
The organization described the incident as part of a continuing pattern of rising Islamophobia, religious intolerance, and extremism against Muslims—particularly Muslim women—in India.
It expressed grave concern over the misuse of state power to target vulnerable and innocent individuals.
Central Anjuman-e-Imamia appealed to the international community, the United Nations, OIC, and global human rights organizations to take serious notice of the incident, ensure accountability, and play an effective role in protecting the religious and human rights of Muslim women in India.
