MWM’s nationwide protest against the anti- azadaari conspiracies of Federal and Sindh government
Nationwide protest day was observed on appeal of MWM’s leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas against the Government of Pakistan’s, especially Punjab government, banns on mourning (azadaari) according to NAP, Loud speaker act and ban on speakers and religious scholars for addressing mourning congregations. A protesting procession was carried out in Karachi after the mourning congregation at Nishtar Park in which provincial leader of MWM Allama Mukhtar Imami, Allama Aqeel Moosa, Sagheer Abid Rizvi, Allama Mubashir Hassan, Allama Ahsan Danish, Allama Sadiq Jafri, Ali Hussain Naqvi, Raza Imam Naqvi, Rizwan Panjwani, Nasir Hussaini, Rooh ullah Majlisi and a large number of mourners protested against the federal and provincial governments and chanted slogans against efforts for limiting azadaari, ruining the NAP and to threaten religious scholars by making excuse of loud speaker act.
Allama Mukhtar Imami, while addressing the protestors, said “NAP was made to eradicate terrorism and extremism but it has been used against peaceful mourners, during Muharram ul Haram, and to take away their religious freedom, given by the law and constitution of Pakistan, and we will never accept this. Rulers of Sindh and Punjab should refrain from distinctive actions against people of Millat e Jafaria. Banns on speakers and religious scholars is condemnable, we do not need anyone’s permission to carry out historical processions and to organize women’s mourning congregations within our houses. Mourning of Imam Hussain (as) should be exempted from Amplifier act as we could not control gatherings of millions of people without loud speaker. We demand that rulers should not try to stop us from our legal and constitutional rights after this symbolic protest otherwise mourning processions, all over the country, will be brought on roads. If provincial government does not allow the use of loud speaker during mourning gatherings then a protest will be conducted at the CM House and a call for nationwide protest will be given.
In addition to this, protests were also conducted in Lahore, Multan, Hyderabad, Peshawar and in other major cities in which thousands of mourners of Imam Hussain (As) participated and rejected the government’s laws causing hindrances in azadaari.
