Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri reacts to Balochistan Assembly’s session
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has said the Balochistan Assembly’s Tuesday session was unconstitutional and tantamount to challenge the highest constitutional authority of Pakistan.
“The article 234 of the Constitution of Pakistan makes clear that now Balochistan Assembly’s powers are exercisable by or under the authority of National Assembly,†said Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, chief of the MWM in his reaction to the Balochistan Assembly’s efforts to elect new leader of the house.
He said that President has enforced emergency in Balochistan under article 234 that is applied because of failure of the Constitutional machinery in a province. He said that the highest constitutional authority of Pakistan has satisfied that the Government of the Province cannot be carried on in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
“Country-wide sit-in to protest against the massacre of Quetta and solidarity of Pakistani nation with the sitters-in of Alamdar Road Quetta compelled the government to impose Governor Rule in Balochistan,†he cited.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri asked the speaker Balochistan Assembly to pay attention to what the home minister of the province had said on record time and again that some provincial ministers were involved in terrorism in Balochistan.
“What sort of action Balochistan Assembly had taken against those abettors of terrorism? Why the provincial assembly failed to impeach those ministers, was it not the failure of the assembly runs under you,†he asked.
The MWM Chief demanded due action against the incompetent sacked chief minister of the province.
He said that Pakistani democracy runs under Constitution and that declares President as highest authority therefore Balochistan Assembly should not exercise its powers on its own under the article 234.
“Should they want to hold session or do something for people of Balochistan, they should work under Constitution and spend remaining two months of their tenure in efforts to impeach those ministers who are involved in terrorism in the province,†he exhorted.
