Pakistani Scholar Missing for Eight Months in Saudi Arabia: Criminal Silence by Government of Pakistan

Shiite News: Pakistani scholar Maulana Ghulam Hasnain Wajdani, hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan and a long-serving religious preacher in Quetta, has been missing for eight months in Saudi Arabia.
The situation has left the community deeply concerned while the Government of Pakistan remains shockingly silent.
Maulana Wajdani, a student of Jamiat al-Mustafa al-Alamiya, traveled for Umrah in April 2025 with the Madinat-ul-Ilm Karachi caravan.
Despite completing all Umrah rituals, he was inexplicably arrested at Taif Airport on April 19, 2025, without any charges or explanation, and subsequently disappeared.
After months of uncertainty, it was learned that he was being held in Jeddah Jail, where he occasionally manages to speak with his family by phone.
Neither legal assistance nor financial support is available to him, except a one-time visit and a small amount given by a Pakistani embassy official.
It is alarming that a respected scholar, preacher and guest pilgrim can be unlawfully detained for months without charge. Equally disturbing is the silence of major religious organizations, who avoid raising their voices out of fear that they may face restrictions or retaliation affecting their lucrative Hajj/Umrah operations.
The community questions whether this silence is wisdom or sheer insensitivity — and who will dare “tie the bell around the cat’s neck.” Human rights organizations and senior Shia leadership are urged to intervene and demand his immediate release through diplomatic channels.
