Shiite News: On the occasion of National Urdu Day and Iqbal Day, the Professionals of Tehreek-e-Bidari Ummat-e-Mustafa (PBUH) organized a National Urdu Conference at Jamia al-Urwatul Wuthqa, Lahore, titled “Urdu, National Language, National Identity, National Dignity.”
The conference was presided over by Allama Syed Jawad Naqvi, head of Tehreek-e-Bidari Ummat-e-Mustafa (PBUH), and attended by leading intellectual, literary, linguistic, and journalistic personalities from across the country.
In his presidential address, Allama Jawad Naqvi said that Allah Almighty granted Pakistan a unique opportunity to emerge with an independent, monotheistic, and distinct identity among the nations of the world, a blessing not given to many.
He said that Pakistan was founded on a clear ideological and intellectual basis that Allama Iqbal described as “Khudi” (selfhood), yet its cultural and intellectual construction remains incomplete. “This process depends on the preservation and promotion of our language, thought, and civilizational heritage,” he noted.
Allama Naqvi emphasized that when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) established the bond of brotherhood (Mawakhat) among Muslims, it was based on shared faith, history, culture, and language.
“Language is the expression of all these elements, it is the custodian of a nation’s faith, history, and civilization. When language weakens, the intellectual foundation of the nation also collapses,” he explained.
He declared that Urdu is not merely a means of communication but a symbol of national unity and cultural endurance. “Its protection, development, and implementation are national duties. Urdu must be made the medium of governance, education, and public communication,” he said.
Allama Naqvi urged people to initiate a domestic movement for the implementation of Urdu, to build public pressure on state institutions to enforce Article 251 of the Constitution, which designates Urdu as the national language.
The speakers also discussed Urdu’s national significance, cultural foundations, and intellectual contributions, stressing that Urdu embodies the spirit of unity, identity, and continuity of the Pakistani nation.
