Holding Fast to Qur’an and Ahl al-Bayt (AS) Is Only Path to Salvation: Hafiz Riaz Najafi
Shiite News: President of Wifaq al-Madaris al-Shia Pakistan, Ayatollah Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi, has emphasized that true success and human excellence depend solely on adherence to taqwa (piety) and the guidance of the Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).
Delivering his Friday sermon at Jamia Masjid Ali, Jamia al-Muntazir, Model Town Lahore, he said that the only true standard of superiority in Islam is taqwa — not wealth, lineage, or worldly status.
Ayatollah Najafi said, “The Holy Qur’an itself calls upon humanity to hold fast to it, for within it lies healing, growth, and the path to progress.” He explained that every question and every solution can be found within the Qur’an, as it is the foundation of true religion and divine guidance.
Referring to the last sermon of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Ayatollah Najafi reminded the audience that six months before his passing, the Prophet declared: “I leave among you two precious things — the Book of Allah and my Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet’s Household). Whoever holds fast to both will never go astray.”
He further said, “If we fail to find the solution to a problem within the Qur’an, the deficiency lies within us — in our inability to comprehend its divine message — not within the Qur’an itself.” The Qur’an’s claim is absolute and truthful: that it contains guidance for every aspect of life.
Ayatollah Najafi added that from the beginning of the Prophet’s life until his passing, every moment of his noble existence serves as a complete and practical model for humanity. “In the life and teachings of the Chief of the Prophets (PBUH), we find the best example for moral, spiritual, and societal guidance,” he concluded.
