Shiite News: Pakistan and Iran have signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Islamabad to enhance cooperation in broadcasting, film production, media regulation, and cultural exchange.
The signing ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam, Deputy President of IRIB World Service Ahmad Nouroozi, Iranian delegation members, senior officials of the Ministry of Information, and representatives of various media organizations.
The agreements were signed between IRIB and five major Pakistani media institutions — Pakistan Television (PTV), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Box Office Pvt Ltd, Sub TV Network, and VSH TV. The purpose is to promote collaboration in broadcast content, film production, training, and cultural exchange.
Under the agreement between PTV and IRIB, both broadcasters will exchange television programs, news content, and cultural materials, organize joint training sessions, and participate in each other’s media events. The three-year agreement is renewable by mutual consent.
A separate MoU between PEMRA and Iran’s regulatory authority SATRA aims to foster cooperation in media regulation, content monitoring, policy development, and research, including the formation of joint working groups.
The IRIB and Box Office Pvt Ltd agreement focuses on cooperation in the film industry — Iran will provide technical expertise in filmmaking, editing, and set design, while both parties will collaborate on joint film productions.
The IRIB-Sub TV Network agreement includes joint production and training programs, while the VSH TV partnership will enhance people-to-people and cultural ties.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Attaullah Tarar said that Pakistan-Iran media collaboration reflects both nations’ shared vision for progress, stability, and prosperity. He welcomed the Iranian delegation and stated that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Pakistan marked a milestone in bilateral relations. He added that the Iranian President’s visit to the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal symbolized Iqbal’s enduring influence on the Muslim world.
Tarar further said that the philosophical and cultural bond between Pakistan and Iran is rooted in the legacy of thinkers like Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Syed Ali Hamadani.
He announced that a joint drama series on the life and philosophy of Allama Iqbal, to be produced in Urdu and Persian, is under consideration — a project aimed at educating youth and strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam said the media and cultural cooperation would open a new chapter in the deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries.
