Shiite News: Thirteen years have passed since the martyrdom of the beloved orator of Karachi’s Shia community, the renowned scholar and revolutionary speaker Allama Agha Aftab Haider Jafri (RA). His thunderous voice, which once shook tyrants, still echoes in the hearts of the faithful.
According to details, the charismatic and eloquent scholar was assassinated on November 6, 2012, near Habib Bank Plaza, Karachi, when terrorists of the banned Deobandi outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba opened fire on him and his companion Shahid Ali Mirza, both of whom embraced martyrdom on the spot.
Allama Aftab Jafri, 42 at the time of martyrdom, was Vice President of a private bank, an accomplished poet, and a devoted preacher.
He lived a simple life in Karachi’s Lines Area and actively participated in student movements during his youth through ISO Pakistan.
He was a founding member of Jafaria Alliance Pakistan and the Palestine Foundation of Pakistan and later joined Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, where he continued his struggle against imperialism and sectarianism. His martyrdom left a lasting void in Pakistan’s Shia community.
It is noteworthy that during his funeral procession near Liaquatabad, police personnel opened direct fire, martyring three additional mourners—a tragic reminder of the persecution faced by the Shia community.
