Shiite News: Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the interim Afghan government, stated in an interview with Khyber News Agency that during the Istanbul peace talks, Kabul had offered to deport individuals considered “security threats” by Islamabad. However, Pakistan rejected the proposal, insisting that such individuals remain under Afghan control inside Afghanistan.
Mujahid said the interim government made clear its willingness to act against unwanted elements but Pakistan preferred internal containment measures over deportation. He added that Afghanistan has already prohibited armed migrants from carrying weapons, and if Pakistan shares credible information about potential threats, Kabul will take “appropriate action.”
The Taliban spokesperson also alleged that Pakistan’s recent measures indicate efforts to create conditions for the possible return of U.S. troops to Bagram Airbase, though he refrained from giving further details. His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over border security and cross-border militancy.
