World Cities Day: Gaza, Beirut and Damascus Turned into Ruins, Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi

Shiite News: On the occasion of World Cities Day (31 October), Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi said that while this year’s theme focuses on “urban systems for people’s well-being,” cities like Gaza, Beirut, and Damascus have been reduced to rubble.
He lamented that these once-vibrant centers of knowledge and spirituality now lie in ruins due to aggression and war. He questioned global powers celebrating “urban progress” while remaining silent on the suffering of the oppressed.
Allama Naqvi also highlighted the severe issues facing Pakistani cities like Lahore and Karachi, including pollution, inflation, and insecurity, saying real development requires justice, equality, and safety, not mere slogans or symbolic observances.
