Pak Ambassador to Iran Highlights Progress on Barter Trade, Railway Corridor
Shiite News: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, has announced significant progress in Pakistan–Iran cooperation, including the development of a barter trade system, a free trade agreement, and the revival of the Quetta–Taftan railway route, which are expected to boost bilateral commerce and connectivity.
Speaking at an event at the Pakistan Embassy in Tehran held to mark Kashmir Black Day, Ambassador Tipu said that relations between Iran and Pakistan are on an upward trajectory and have witnessed remarkable improvement in recent years.
He noted that the completion of the legal framework for barter trade would eliminate financial barriers and facilitate direct exchange of goods across border areas, creating economic opportunities for local communities.
The ambassador urged Iranian media to raise public awareness about the advantages of the barter system and informed that he was actively engaging with universities, chambers of commerce, and business leaders to promote this initiative.
He further revealed that both countries are finalizing a Pakistan–Iran Free Trade Agreement and discussing ways to enhance regional connectivity through the Pakistan–Iran–Turkey Railway Corridor, particularly by restoring the Quetta–Taftan route.
Ambassador Tipu also emphasized that high-level contacts between Islamabad and Tehran remain regular and productive, reflecting a mutual commitment to strengthen political trust, economic cooperation, and regional stability.
