Shiite News: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that if negotiations with Afghanistan do not succeed, Pakistan will have no option but to face an open war with its western neighbor. Talking to the media in Sialkot, he stated that the Pakistan Army and police were sacrificing their lives to protect the nation, adding, “We sleep peacefully because our protectors remain awake.”
He reminded that Pakistan had hosted Afghan refugees for four decades, yet Afghanistan was acting as India’s proxy. “Those we spoke to in Doha grew up in Pakistan. Despite our generosity, Afghanistan’s attitude toward us is incomprehensible,” he remarked.
Khawaja Asif criticized Afghan migrants for taking over local employment and businesses, stressing the need for coexistence and brotherhood with neighboring nations. He said the situation had remained relatively calm for several days but warned that if dialogue failed, Pakistan would be forced into open confrontation with Afghanistan.
