Shiite News: Pakistan has eased trade regulations with Iran to boost bilateral commerce, exempting 57 items from the Certificate of Origin (COO) requirement under the Ministry of Commerce’s new policy.
According to sources, the decision aims to facilitate cross-border trade and support local business communities, who welcomed the move as a step toward economic stability and stronger regional cooperation.
Reports indicate that an additional list of 37 items has been forwarded for approval to be similarly exempted.
Islamabad has also revised its 2023 Barter Trade Framework to enhance trade with Iran, Russia, and Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, announced that the updated rules address business concerns and prioritize the promotion of barter trade.
Experts noted that the development comes as both nations target doubling their agricultural trade
volume and raising bilateral commerce from $1.4 billion to $3 billion annually within two years.
