No Room for War in South Asia’s Nuclear Environment, Army Chief Asim Munir Warns
Shiite News: Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, warned that there is no room for war between nuclear-armed states in South Asia and urged restraint from any provocative actions. Speaking at the passing-out parade of officers at the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, he cautioned the Indian military leadership against taking steps that could lead to armed conflict.
Referring to recent clashes involving elements operating from Afghan territory, the army chief expressed deep concern over militant groups using Afghanistan against Pakistan and called on the Taliban-led government to stop proxy actors from operating on its soil. He asserted Pakistan’s readiness to respond immediately and forcefully to any provocative moves by its eastern neighbour.
Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s claim of success in recent limited operations against Indian combat aircraft and emphasised that Pakistan’s defence posture is grounded in credible deterrence and continuous preparedness. He warned that Pakistan’s military capabilities would produce “destructive consequences” for any aggressor.
The army chief also praised the strategic defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, saying the agreement will have positive implications for stability in the Middle East and South Asia. He urged that all disputes with India be resolved in accordance with international norms and mutual respect.
