Lives of Anti-American Figures in Gilgit-Baltistan in Serious Danger: Opposition Leader Kazim Maisam
Shiite News: Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) leader and Opposition Leader Gilgit-Baltistan, Muhammad Kazim Maisam, has strongly condemned the attack on Ameer Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Qazi Nisar Ahmed, declaring it an attack on the unity and peace of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He warned that in view of the region’s global strategic significance, such incidents must be analyzed in an international context. “Our fears that anti-American figures face threats in Gilgit-Baltistan are proving correct,” he said, citing examples such as the Diamer and Sost sit-ins and resistance against exploitation of minerals as signs of growing public awareness.
Kazim Maisam said that the canceled visit of the US ambassador, following public opposition, showed that foreign powers are troubled by the unity in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He called on the youth to maintain patience and solidarity, and to stand united against all conspiracies.
He demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those behind the attack, warning that anti-national forces want to push Gilgit-Baltistan into sectarian and regional conflict. He urged both Shia and Sunni scholars to stage a joint protest against this sad incident.
