Islamabad, September 21, 2025 — Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the recently signed defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia could be expanded to include other Arab countries.
He emphasized that the pact reflects mutual trust and shared security interests, with no secret clauses involved.
The minister explained that the framework ensures collective security, stating that aggression against one signatory will be considered aggression against the other. Given the current global tensions, such agreements are vital, he added.
Khawaja Asif clarified that the agreement is a transparent strategic partnership designed to promote regional stability, incorporating joint security measures, training exercises, and technical cooperation.
He further stressed that Middle Eastern states should not rely solely on external powers for their defense. Instead, they must strengthen their own security capabilities and become self-reliant in safeguarding sovereignty and stability.
