Iran-Pakistan Relations: Iranian Vice President Stresses on Increasing Historical Ties and Cooperation

Shiite News: Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif has said that during the war, Pakistan’s only voice was to support Iran and condemn Israeli aggression.

According to details, during a meeting with Pakistani Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan in Tehran, he said that the long-standing historical, cultural and religious ties between Iran and Pakistan provide a strong foundation for expanding relations between the two countries.

Arif further said that the warm welcome of the Iranian delegations by Pakistan is a message to both governments that relations should go beyond the current level. Iran is ready to increase cooperation with Pakistan in every field.

He thanked the people, government, experts and political leadership of Pakistan for their support during the 12-day war, saying that both countries share the same stance on the Palestinian issue and condemn the Zionist attacks. Only through the unity of Islamic countries can Israeli encroachments be stopped.

The Vice President said that Iran and Pakistan should further expand cooperation through platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and ECO.

Furthermore, he stressed the activation of the Economic Commission, the implementation of border market agreements and the elimination of trade barriers.

The Iranian Vice President also expressed his condolences and sympathy for the people who died in the recent floods in Pakistan.

Pakistani Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan thanked Iran on this occasion, saying that Pakistan had supported Iran in the war and condemned Israeli aggression. He appreciated Iran’s mediation between Pakistan and India and said that the Joint Economic Commission should be activated immediately.

Jam Kamal Khan added that there is a vast potential for economic cooperation between the two countries and the recent economic summit in Iran, which was attended by over 500 private sector representatives, will further strengthen this cooperation. He also stressed that Pakistani citizens living in Iran are an important source of strengthening relations between the two countries.
