Allama Sajid Naqvi urges Government to provide immediate Relief and Rehabilitation for Flood Victims

Shiite News: Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi expressed concern over the devastating historic flood situation across the country and said that in this hour of sudden disaster, the government should ensure the rehabilitation of flood victims, help should be provided to every needy person and a coordinated and action plan should be prepared to deal with the effects of disasters in the future. We have to move towards a lasting and effective solution.

He said that in this difficult hour, facilities should be provided to flood victims across the country without discrimination and philanthropists should come forward and actively participate in welfare works.

Allama Sajid Naqvi further said that floods are continuing in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, the effects of which will also affect Sindh.
Hundreds of deaths have been confirmed due to floods across the country, thousands of houses have been damaged, more than 6,000 livestock, 238 bridges and 661 kilometers of highways have been washed away in the floods.
Several dams have broken, while thousands of villages are under water and the number of victims has reached millions. In addition, cotton, rice and vegetable crops have been severely affected and the Indus River is also in a super flood situation.
The rains are predicted to continue until the end of September, which is expected to further affect crops and damage 72 percent of agricultural land.
In view of this emergency situation, Allama Sajid Naqvi demanded that all possible measures be taken by the federal and provincial governments to protect the lives and property of the people, as well as to provide maximum rescue and relief.
He also directed the workers and volunteers to remain present in the field to protect the lives and property of the people to the extent possible and serve their fellow countrymen.

He further said that due to the recent climate change and flood situation, all the affected areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab should be declared disaster-hit.
