Gilgit Baltistan Council demands special fund for rehabilitation of flood victims
Shiite News: An important meeting of Gilgit Baltistan Council members was held in Gilgit under the chairmanship of Chairman Standing Committee Gilgit Baltistan Council Ayub Shah, in which discussions were held to review the situation affected by GB floods and adopt appropriate strategies.
The meeting was attended by Council members Iqbal Naseer, Sheikh Ahmed Ali Noori, Syed Shabiya Al-Hussein, Abdul Rehman, Hashmatullah and Joint Secretary GB Council Sudhir Khattak, along with other officials. The meeting demanded that the Prime Minister of Pakistan take immediate action on the letter written by the Council for the rehabilitation of flood victims and release the fund.
The council members recommended reasonable assistance by allocating a special budget from the GB Council Fund for the rehabilitation of flood victims.
At present, the entire Gilgit-Baltistan is in distress due to the floods, people’s properties have been destroyed, hundreds of people have been left homeless and many lives have been lost, so it is the responsibility of the state to provide them with shelter.
The state should compensate the losses of the flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan without discrimination.
