Shiite News :Opposition Leader of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kazim Meesam, along with opposition members, addressed sit-ins in Herspo and Thole Nagar in support of the protesting traders of Sost, before heading towards Sost itself.
Speaking in Thole, Meesam condemned the administration’s alleged occupation of public lands in Gamba Skardu and demanded immediate resolution of people’s problems. He declared: “Whether bullets are fired, stones thrown, or missiles launched, we will soon stand with the traders.”
He criticized the government for firing on flood-affected people in Gilgit-Baltistan, saying that instead of healing their wounds, authorities were inflicting more oppression. Warning the administration, he said Gilgit-Baltistan must not be turned into another Balochistan, and injustices against the local people should immediately stop.
Addressing the lawyers’ sit-in, Kazim Meesam and Javed Manwa urged that the judiciary should not be crippled and lawyers’ demands must be accepted without delay.
They warned that if further force is used in Sost, it will lead to serious consequences. Meesam stated that the rising oppression and authoritarianism in Gilgit-Baltistan appear to be part of a deep conspiracy. He called on the people to remain united and vigilant.
He further emphasized that the protesting traders in Sost are not just fighting for themselves but representing the entire Gilgit-Baltistan, urging the public to raise their voices in solidarity with them.
