Terrorist network around University road cannot be broken

Terrorist network around university road cannot be broken despite its identification by an intelligence agency, four years ago, and several incidents of target killing have been continuously occurring in which doctors, government workers, professors, police officials, students and lawyers have been killed. Despite all this, Karachi and district police have closed their eyes. Sources have revealed that a secret report was sent to federal interior ministry in which it was said that some terrorist organizations were trying to establish their networks around University of Karachi and they became successful in their efforts and this is the reason behind several terrorist incidents around University road. More than 100 police officials became target of terrorists during the last year in district east. The ratio of crimes is greater in this district as compared to other two districts. Some major incidents of firing and terrorism around this area include killing of two police officials Sher Ali and Nizam Uddin on 30th August 2015 near Sunday market. A day before this incident, Advocate Ameer Haider was gunned down near Hassan square. Advocate Ashfaq Qaim Khani was killed near Safari park on 2nd August, Deputy Director Land of Baldia Talat Yousuf and Deputy Directory National Highway Authority Sohail Bhatti were killed on 19th January near NIPA, in front of Federal Urdu Univeristy. University of Karachi’s Professor Shakeel Auj was targeted over NIPA Bridge, last year in Spetember.

On 25th November 2014, Professor of Dow Medical College Dr. Rubina Khalid was gunned down. Two suicide bombers, carrying explosives, were also killed last year when their motorcycle was slipped on Abul Hassan Isphani road. A bus, taking people to Youm ul Quds, was targeted near safari Park killing 2 people. An army captain Ahtehsam was injured due to firing near Hassan square on 16th January. Allama Talib Johri’s secretary Wajahat was martyred due to firing on his car, in front of Univeristy of Karachi’s Silver jubilee gate, on 21st January.Driver of JDC ambulance Muhammad Ali was killed near Urdu University, on 23rd January. A suicide attack near Esa Nagri killed SSP Chauhadry Aslam and two officials on 9th January. Dr. Haider Raza was martyred on 9th April due to firing near Dar ul Sehat Hospital. Firing on a car near Maskan Chorangu killed two students of University of Karachi Shadab and Hamza. Firing on University’s bus near Safari Park killed 7 people including 4 students. Last major incident took place near Safoora Chaurangi on 13th May when 43 people of Aghan Khani Community were killed due to firing on a bus. It should be clear that more than 100 police officials were killed in Karachi, last year and a large number of them were killed in district east.
