Shiite News: Provincial President of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Punjab, Hujjat-ul-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Allama Syed Ali Akbar Kazmi, has severely criticized the Punjab government for banning the historic Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Nasir Bagh, Lahore.

Allama Kazmi said in a statement that the Eid prayer congregation has been held continuously in Nasir Bagh for the past 50 years, which has been going on since the time of the late Haider Ali Mirza.

This year too, there was a regular permit in the name of Amir Abbas Mirza, but the administration unjustifiably stopped this religious gathering by making the excuse of security risk.”

Describing this move as a deliberate provocation, he said that the government is taking steps on the peaceful and spiritual occasion of Eid that can create law and order problems.

We know that the real goal is to limit the mourning of Muharram and Safar. All this is being done under a planned plan.”

He demanded that the Punjab government immediately withdraw the notice of ban on Eid prayer gathering in Nasir Bagh and rectify this unconstitutional and undemocratic move.

Allama Kazmi further said that the Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen believes in peaceful religious freedom and will not give up its constitutional rights.
