Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi demands immediate release of Maulana Wijdani
Shiite News: Vice Chairman of Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan, Allama Syed Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi, said in his condemnatory statement that we express deep concern and anxiety over the arrest of a prominent Shia scholar, Maulana Hasnain Wijdani, in Saudi Arabia.
Maulana Wijdani not only holds a prominent position in the academic and intellectual circles of Pakistan but is also known internationally as a proponent of unity of the Ummah and interfaith harmony.
We believe that any kind of arrest or ban against such scholars who are engaged in academic, religious and peaceful struggle not only causes anxiety in academic and religious circles but can also create distrust and a sense of deprivation within the nation.
We demand the Government of Pakistan, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to immediately contact the Saudi authorities through diplomatic channels.
Consular access should be arranged for Maulana Hasnain Wijdani so that his well-being, legal status and the reasons for his arrest can be determined in a transparent manner. Along with this, effective steps should be taken to ensure his immediate release.
We also strongly demand the brotherly Islamic country of Saudi Arabia to release Maulana Sheikh Hasnain Wijdani, an effective preacher of inter-Muslim unity and a global advocate of peace, as soon as possible, so that the unrest in the Jafariya nation can be resolved and inter-religious harmony can be strengthened.
Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan supports every step that leads to progress towards the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the eradication of the scourge of sectarianism.
May Allah Almighty keep Maulana Hasnain Wijdani in His protection and safety, create a way for his immediate release, and provide all the means for good. Amen.
