Iranian President contact PM Sharif, stresses close cooperation for peace in region

Shiite News: President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud pezeshkian expressed deep concern over the growing terrorism in the region and the rising tension between India and Pakistan in a telephonic conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

During the conversation, Dr. pezeshkian said that terrorism not only targets innocent lives but also fuels differences and tensions between countries in the region. He stressed the need for close cooperation at the regional level against terrorism.

The Iranian President said that all countries should work together to achieve peace, stability and lasting security in the region.

He appreciated the long-standing friendly relations between Iran and Pakistan and said that the two countries have always had relations based on good neighborliness, mutual respect and common interests.

Dr. Pezhakian said that Iran is ready to provide all possible cooperation to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan and resolve misunderstandings.

He mentioned the holding of the 22nd Joint Meeting of Iran-Pakistan Economic Cooperation in Tehran in the coming months and expressed hope for further promotion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, economy and infrastructure.

Dr. Pezhakian also invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Tehran and expressed the hope that this dialogue would be helpful in further strengthening peace and stability in the region.

He strongly condemned terrorism and said that Pakistan itself has been a victim of this scourge and believes in a decisive struggle against terrorism.

The Prime Minister Sharif also expressed his full support for Iran’s constructive role while offering full cooperation in the transparent investigation of the recent tragedy in India.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, while recognizing Iran’s right to a peaceful nuclear program, reiterated his support for the diplomatic approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He expressed regret over the recent accident at Shaheed Rajai Port and offered all possible assistance to Iran.
