Engineer Syed Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi, sentenced 14 years in prison on false charges

Having rejected many opportunities that could have easily led them to another country and live a better life, Engineer Syed Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the state of Pakistan today on a false charge.

According to sources, Engineer Syed Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi, who has been a victim of long-term enforced disappearance two or three times before, was rescued a few months ago. Today, the Sargodha Sessions Court sentenced him to 14 years in prison during the post-bail hearing of the case.

According to family sources of Engineer Syed Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi, a few months ago the Lahore High Court had granted his bail and today the lower court has pronounced the sentence. This cruel decision will be challenged in the Lahore High Court and the decision will be returned.

It should be noted that Engineer Mumtaz Hussain Rizvi is also active in welfare and social services. He also carries out tablighi work in remote and backward areas of Sindh and Balochistan.

A case was registered against him under the provisions of the anti-terrorism law and he was falsely accused of exporting explosives.

Engineer Mumtaz Rizvi’s family says that today is another dark day in the history of Shia Pakistan, but the struggle for the recovery of these prisoners and missing persons must continue.
