Seven Azadars including 3 children martyred in DI Khan blast

At least 7 Azadars including three children were martyred due to a huge bomb explosion at Muharram Procession (juloos-e-aza) of Youm-e-Tasua in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.

The blast occurred in Thuya Fazil near Bannu Chungi, DI Khan. Three persons were martyred on the spot and four embraced martyrdom in hospital.

Takfiri nasbi terrorists concealed bomb in a pressure cooker and hide that utensil in a heap of garbage. When the procession came near, the terrorists detonated bomb trough remote control. Latest reports said that 7 Azadars were martyred and more than 20 have been injured. Police cops and children are among the victims.

“It was a homemade bomb which was kept inside a pressure cooker and planted in the garbage,” an official of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) informed.

It has also been learnt that mobile phones were working at the time of the blast, but were later blocked in DI Khan.

“Around 10kg explosive material was used in the bomb and ball bearings were found during the collection of evidence.”

Khalid Baloch of the District Headquarters Hospital DI Khan said that the injured also included a police official and children, adding that some of the injured were in serious condition.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police, Qazi Jamilur Rehman told media persons that security had been enhanced after the incident and all Muharram processions will go ahead as scheduled. He added that police personnel, including Frontier reserves and Elite personnel will provide security.

Police had cordoned off the area after the incident and had launched a search operation. A suspect was arrested from the site and shifted to an unknown location for further investigations, a police official said.

Shia parties and leaders have condemned the blast and terrorism in DI Khan’s azadari procession of 9th Moharram. They demanded immediate arrest and punishment to the terrorists.
