Pak-Iran FMs meet to discuss current situation in the region

Shiite News: According to a report by Mehr News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar on the sidelines of the G8 Summit in Cairo.

During this, Araqchi pointed to the aggression of the Zionist regime and said: Unfortunately, with the support of the United States and some Western countries, the Israeli regime is destroying Syria’s defense and economic infrastructure and is continuing its crimes in Gaza and Lebanon.

He also stressed the concern of all countries in the region regarding Syria, citing the joint statement of the guarantors of the Astana process and several Arab countries in the region in support of Syria’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that the current situation in Syria is the result of the American and Zionist plan to divide Islamic countries and the basis for the resurgence of the nefarious trend of the terrorist group ISIS.

In this meeting, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar appreciated the excellent hosting and successful holding of the recent meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Mashhad and expressed hope that it would yield positive results.

He explained the country’s position regarding the current situation in the region, including Syria, and condemned the aggression of the Zionist regime. Ishaq Dar stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in the dialogue between Islamic countries regarding Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan also reviewed the issues on the agenda of the summit of developing Islamic countries in Cairo.

The two sides also stressed the need for deeper cooperation and coordination between key Muslim countries, especially Iran and Pakistan, to defend the common interests of the Islamic world.
