Kurram Humanitarian Crisis: Scholar, leaders urge government to immediately open roads

Shiite News: Advisors and elders of Kurram district held an important meeting with eminent scholars of the country in Islamabad regarding the serious situation in Parachinar.

In this meeting, a complete briefing was given on the humanitarian crisis in Parachinar, the closure of roads, and the situation of the jirga to establish law and order.

After the meeting, the ulema and jirga members unanimously issued a statement. On this occasion, the ulema also advised the local people to remain peaceful until the next course of action.

Announcement:
1 Deep concern was expressed over the closure of roads in Parachinar for 67 days. Terming this move as a serious violation of human rights, the government was demanded to immediately open the roads.

2 The government was demanded to take urgent steps to ensure the safety of the patriotic people of Parachinar.

3 Regret was expressed over the deaths of children and elderly people due to shortage of medicines. The government was appealed to immediately take steps to ensure the supply of medicines in Parachinar.

4 The government was directed to provide the basic needs of the people on priority basis due to the severe shortage of food items and other necessities of life.

5 The announcement clarified that if these demands are not implemented immediately, a nationwide action plan will be announced.
