Parachinar still a battlefield, 124 people martyred in 10 days

Shiite News: Tribal elders say that a ceasefire has been reached at 2 places in Lower Kurram, while police say that firing is still being carried out at 2 places in Upper Kurram.

Clashes broke out in various places in Kurram district on November 22 after 50 people were martyred in an attack on a passenger convoy in Kurram district on November 21. Several shops and houses have been damaged in these clashes.

The district administration, police, military leadership and tribal elders made efforts for a ceasefire today, which resulted in a complete ceasefire in 2 places, however, fighting is still ongoing in 2 places in Upper Kurram.

The sides are targeting each other with heavy and automatic weapons. In the evening, a mortar shell fell in the village of Kunj Alizai, killing one person and injuring 3 others. Crossfire is still going on between Pewar and Tri Mangal, Kunj Alizai and Maqbal.

80 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in the latest clashes. 124 people have been martyred in various firing incidents in Kurram district in the last 10 days.

The Parachinar Highway and the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border are closed for all types of traffic and trade. According to the All Teachers Association, all government and private educational institutions in the district have been closed for the past 8 days.

Due to the road closure, there has been a shortage of food items, medicines and fuel in Parachinar city. The unavailability of medicines, it is not possible to provide quality treatment to the injured.
