Iran, Pakistan have potential to increase contacts between SCO members, Iranian Envoy
Shiite News: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, while giving an interview to PTV on the occasion of the upcoming meeting of the heads of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad, said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, is a joint cooperation for the Eastern and Eurasian countries. It is a very important forum for sharing interests and addressing common challenges.
Fortunately, the Islamic Republic of Iran became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization last year to play an active role in advancing the organization’s agenda and sharing its capabilities with other members, he added.
Amiri Muqaddam stressed that the members of the Shanghai Organization are committed to implementing joint initiatives, especially regional coordination, easy access to each other’s markets, and connecting trade lines from the East to Eurasia and Russia. .
The Iranian ambassador said that Iran and Pakistan are located on the border line of Eastern, Eurasia and Russia, so the two neighboring countries will be able to establish strong relations on these border lines and facilitate their other partners.
Amiri Moghaddam also mentioned the upcoming visit of the Vice President of Iran to Pakistan and said that Tehran and Islamabad can become the gateway connecting the East with Eurasia and both countries can play role to expand the cross-border contacts between the members of the Shanghai Organization.
Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra announced that Islamabad will host the 23rd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) heads of state on October 15-16, and Iran’s Vice President Dr. Mohammad Reza Arif will attend the meeting.
Mumtaz Zahra further said that the ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment, social and cultural relations will be discussed in the upcoming meeting of the Shanghai Organization, while important decisions will be made to review the organization’s performance and approve the budget.
