110 Police and rangers have attacked a protest rally of Shiites at Numaish Chowrangi near the mausoleum of founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah on Friday.
A Shia group Pasban-e-Aza announced staging a rally from Numaish to Sindh Governor House after Friday prayers.  The officials of Pasban-e-Aza said that the rally was being staged to condemn the genocide of Shia Muslims and in particular the targeted assassination of renowned religious scholar Allama Agha Aftab Haider Jafari.

Shia youths gathered at the Numaish traffic intersection and started marching to Governor House via M.A. Jinnah Road. Heavy contingent of police and rangers surrounded the rally and launched tear gas shelling alongside firing.

Several Shia youths fell unconscious due to tear gas shelling. Some of the protestors were reported injured due to police and rangers action. Tension prevailed in the area.

Almost all Shia leaders and parties have condemned the police and rangers attack on the peaceful rally of Shiites. They demanded of the government to rein in the police and rangers and punish them for attacks on peaceful Shia Muslims in Karachi.
